Paní učitelka Brooksová, která učila ve druhé třídě, měla potíže s jedním ze svých žáků. Jednou se ho zeptala:: "Co je to s tebou, Harry?"
Harry jí odpověděl: "Já jsem chytřejší než na druhou třídu. Moje sestra je ve třetí třídě a já jsem chytřejší než ona! Myslím, že bych měl taky patřit do třetí třídy."
To už bylo na paní učitelku příliš. Zavedla Harryho do ředitelny. Harry čekal u sekretářky a učitelka vysvětlila řediteli, o co jde. Ředitel jí řekl, že si hocha vyzkouší. Pokud nebude umět odpovědět na některou z otázek, půjde zpátky do druhé třídy a hotovo. Učitelka s tím souhlasila.
Přivedla Harryho k řediteli, vysvětlila mu podmínky zkoušky a Harry souhlasil.
Ředitel: "Kolik je 3 x 3?“
Haryy: "Devět."
Ředitel: "Kolik je 6 x 6?“
Harry: "36."
A tak to šlo dál s každou další otázkou, o které si ředitel myslel, že by ji měl žák třetí třídy umět zodpovědět. Ředitel se podívá na učitelku a povídá: "Já myslím, že Harry už může jít do třetí třídy."
Učitelka povídá řediteli: "Já mu dám taky pár otázek." Ředitel i Harry souhlasili.
Učitelka: "Co má kráva čtyři a já jen dvě?“
Harry (za okamžik): "Nohy."
Učitelka: "Co ty máš v kalhotách a já ne?“
Ředitele ta otázka překvapila.
Harry odpověděl: "Kapsy."
Učitelka: "Co je tohle: začíná to na P a končí na A, je to většinou kudrnaté, blond, černé nebo rezavé?“
Harry: "Paruka."
Ředitel se posadil zpříma a spadla mu čelist.
Učitelka: "Co je tvrdé a růžové, když to jde dovnitř, a ven to jde měkké a mokré ?"
Ředitel vyvalil oči a než tomu mohl zabránit, Harry řekl: "Žvýkačka."
Učitelka: "Co dělá muž vstoje, žena vsedě a pes na třech nohách?“
Harry: "Podává ruku." Ředitel se roztřásl.
Učitelka: "Co je to: začíná to na S a končí na Ž a je u toho spousta vzrušení?“
Harry: "Soutěž."
Ředitel si oddechl a povídá učitelce: "Dejte Harryho do té třetí třídy. Moje odpovědi na těch posledních šest otázek by byly všechny špatně."
